Weekend Round Up

Another Monday… another Weekend Round Up a day late. You win some, you lose some, am I right?

But really, I can’t consider the fact that I didn’t get a blog post up on Sunday a loss, because I had such an amazing weekend! And I’ve got the bug bites, muddy shoes and pictures to prove it.

We spent a long weekend in the UP and oh man did we have fun. I got to Manistee late Thursday night (the reason you didn’t see a blog post). I worked until 4 then had a long drive ahead of me.

LOL no I did not have to walk across the bridge! There is a nice park with bathrooms and a perfect bridge view that we always stop at before we head across!

Friday morning, we woke up early and headed across the bridge! We saw so many awesome things. We stopped for burgers at Clyde’s, floated on the raft at Kich-iti-kipi, hiked to a bunch of waterfalls in the Pictured Rocks.

My Dad and I looking down into the Big Spring. It was SO CLEAR you could see all the way to the bottom. (It’s 40 feet deep!)

Saturday we woke up early again to start a hike that I was dying to do! Oh my gosh. It was beautiful but HOLY MUD.

We stopped to take this picture pretty early on in our hike because I wanted a picture of my muddy shoes, since people ask me all the time what shoes I use to hike around NoMi in. We stopped at this small mud pile to take this, because we figured we wouldn’t get another opportunity. Joke was on us! HAHA

It was so bad guys. If you follow me on Snapchat, you saw our adventure. And adventure is definitely an understatement. However, the seven mile hike was 1,000% worth it in the end for views like this….

And this…

Walking on Chapel Beach! This beach is so remote. You can only get to it by kayak or by hiking back 4 miles to it. We had the place to ourselves and it was amazing! It was also a great spot to wash my feet off from the first round of mud 😉

I can’t wait to tell you more about all the amazing things we saw and did in the UP in our short time there. Look for them on future Mitten Monday posts! (And look for a whole bunch more amazing photos too! You’ll see a few of them sooner if you follow me on Instagram.)

After our hike, we grabbed some lunch at Pictured Rocks Pizza (delicious and I’d totally recommend it if you’re in the Munising area!) and headed to Marquette for my cousin’s graduation festivities.

We helped decorate for his graduation party as soon as we arrived, then hurried to get checked into our hotel and cleaned up. We went to church as a family then walked over to his grad party together. Come 9:00 when the party was over, I could barely keep my eyes open. I was exhuasted!

Sunday morning we slept in (thank goodness) and headed to Doncker’s for breakfast before we headed to graduation. Our breakfast was SO YUMMY you guys! I’ll be doing a post on this awesome place too 😊 We had hoped to see some scenic sights around Marquette before graduation but it was SO FOGGY AND COLD. Our hotel was right on Lake Superior and you couldn’t even tell there was a lake out there.

My little cousin isn’t so little anymore!! Congrats Doug. So proud of you and your already long list of accomplishments. I have no doubt you will be very successful in life!

After graduation, we said our goodbyes and started the 7 hour drive home. If you’ve ever driven through the middle of the UP I know you can feel my pain. Luckily, I got to sleep through the boring bits!

And now I’m up bright and early to head back  (I’m calling 9 am bright and early cuz I’m exhausted!) to Detroit. My first day working at Comerica Park is tomorrow and I’m so excited!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekends as much as I did. I’m back tomorrow for Travel Tuesday. Have a great Monday loves!

Xx.
