Weekend Round Up (MDW Edition!)

Hello my loves! Happy, happy Wednesday! I’m a day late to the Weekend Round Up party, but it’s okay… at least I’m here 🙂 And I’m ready to chit chat about our weekend! Lemme just preface this by saying our weekend did NOT look like I had expected/ hoped.

Our weekend was supposed to start out Friday night after work. I was supposed to skip out to the car, get some Chick fil A (I’m OBSESSED with that Lemon Kale Chicken Salad) and sing along to oldies music with Trev while we sat in traffic jams. BUT I woke up Friday and felt like death. Not to be too TMI but I could not get out of the bathroom. It seemed I had caught the stomach bug that the kids and teachers at my work all had come down with during the week. I started my day with high hopes that some pepto and toast would do the trick and I’d be feeling better in no time.

But as the day went on, I felt worse and worse. And not only was I still going to the bathroom, I was also throwing up. I was devastated to text to parents and tell them there was no way I’d be making it Up North Friday night. Trev picked me up from work (he had dropped me off with the plan he’d pick me up and we’d hit the road) and got me home and tucked into bed. He got me some mac and cheese from Red Robin and I was actually able to keep it down! I went to sleep hoping to feel better in the morning.

Red Robin Kid’s Meals comin in CLUTCH.

Saturday I woke up still not feeling 100% but better than the day before. I got myself around while Trev loaded up the car and we hit the road! Trev is an angel and drove the entire way while I napped. We pulled into my parents driveway around 10:40 and after giving some hugs my mom told me to go to bed. So I did.

I woke up just in time for lunch! My dad made us pizzas on his Ooni. And they were fantastic! After lunch, I went back to bed. (I told you, real exciting weekend haha)

I slept until dinner time and woke up feeling so much better. Thinking back, I think I did have a stomach bug. But I also thing I let my stress get the best of me and my body really needed to rest. We ordered Big Al’s for dinner and my mom and I snuggled up on the couch to watch the Friends reunion while we ate.

That night, we caught a sunset at the beach before turning in for the evening.

Sunday I woke up and was feeling back to normal! We visited my grandparents Sunday morning after breakfast, and then we headed out to try out our new kayaks! It was SO relaxing floating out on the little lake we went to!

When we got back to town we cleaned up and headed to TJs for dinner.

After dinner we went to my other grandparents house to have our annual Memorial Day bonfire. Then, we headed to the beach to catch one more sunset.

Monday we woke up and it was SO strange not heading downtown for a Memorial Day parade and service. It was canceled this year because Michigan still has some Covid restrictions in place until July. So instead, we packed our things and hit the road early. It actually worked out pretty well because we got stuck in ZERO traffic. Usually after a holiday weekend it takes 5-6 hours to get home. This time it only took the 3 1/2!

We got home just before 2:00 and were able to get our grocery shopping done, unpack and get prepped for the week all at a decent time! So decent that we even were able to hang out in the backyard and relax a bit too!

And before we knew it, the long weekend was over. So like I said, definitely not the weekend I had hoped for, but overall a good weekend!

How were your weekends? I hope much better than mine! Alright my loves, I’m signing off for the night. Our PreK/Y5 kiddos at work are graduating next week and I’ve got a couple slide shows to finish! I’ll be back tomorrow 🙂

Xx.

  1. We were a little farther up north in Boyne City! It was a chilly, but sunny weekend! It was great to walk into wineries once again and visit with the owners!
