Weekend Round Up (Thanksgiving Edition) + Happy December!

Happy Sunday Everyone!!! It’s finally December, which means it’s officially Christmastime here on Savannah Said It! I (and when I say I, I really mean me and Trev!) have been working SO hard these past few months to bring you Gift Guides, Decorating Tips, Recipes and more this month, and I’ve literally been dying to share all these fun posts with you!

I’m so excited to hop into all the fun tomorrow with another gift guide for you just in time for Cyber Monday shopping! (Click here if you missed this year’s Gift Guide for Her and Gift Guide for Him!)

But before we can completely leave Thanksgiving and the rest of Fall behind, we have to do a little Thanksgiving week round up 🙂

The last time I posted an actual blog, I told you I’d be back the following day completely not realizing it was Thanksgiving week! The week of Thanksgiving is always a really busy one for us, so I always take a blogging break and it completely slipped my mind. Which is why I haven’t posted in awhile. #Oops

So anyways, long time, no talk. Am I right? It feels like ages since I’ve had the chance to blog even though it’s only been a few days. I hope this Sunday finds you sitting on a couch somewhere, still in a turkey coma, and just really, really, really, really happy.

In fact, that’s where I’m writing to you from! Our guests are long gone, our house is weirdly quiet, but I’m still sitting her, basking in the happy memories from the weekend.

For the first time in my 30 years on this planet, I didn’t head to Manistee for the holiday. Which was so so weird. But as my family and Trev told me multiple times over the weekend, change is good, and new traditions are happy traditions too.

I worked the day before and day after Thanksgiving this year, which meant we were going to host our very first Thanksgiving in our home! When I got home from work on Wednesday, our first guests (my parents and my pup) had arrived!

I was so happy to see them. I had been a basket case of emotions all week with staying here and not going home for the holiday. (I’m not great with change.) It instantly felt more like Thanksgiving when they walked in!

We spent the night prepping for the feast the next day! My mom and I were on stuffing duty.

While we worked on the stuffing, my Dad helped Trev install our new dishwasher! It’s so sleek and pretty and works like a dream. We couldn’t be happier with our choice! If you’re in the market for a new dishwasher, check out the one we purchased here! It’s on super sale right now!!

Thursday morning I woke up to the smell of woke up to the smell of stuffing in the oven and turkey on the grill! Yay for Thanksgiving!!! Trev and my dad were up early to start the cooking while they let me sleep in a bit 🙂

Excuse our disaster of a back yard!

We continued out tradition of Krispy Kremes and Coffee while we prep the rest of the yummy food for Thanksgiving dinner! (This is our tradition because every year, my mom’s school does a Krispy Kreme fundraiser. We order a dozen donuts and coffee from it. It gets delivered the day before Thanksgiving to her school, so she brings them home and we have a delicious treat before we feast!)

Dressed and ready to host our first Thanksgiving!

Before we knew it, Trev’s mom and dad arrived and it was time to carve the turkey!

Trev’s dad walking him through how to carve the turkey!

Then it was time to eat!

After lunch we took some family photos and then snuggled in to watch the Lions game!

We have so much to be thankful for!

On Friday, I was SUPER sad because I had to go to work. I really wanted to be Black Friday shopping and spending the day with my family! While I was gone, they were working on a big surprise for me!

Trev got our Christmas lights up!!!

They came to pick me up from work to go to dinner, and when we pulled up after I almost cried I was so happy to see them! I love love love love Christmas lights and I thought they made our home look so beautiful!!!

Saturday morning we slept in before heading to breakfast at our favorite spot, Menka’s.

Then we headed to pick up a few last minute things I needed before we came home to decorate for Christmas! I was so SO excited to get to decorating our new home! I’m not going to share too many photos, because I want to wait until it’s completely done! However, here is a few 🙂

Saturday night we had dinner at one of our favorite places, Buddy’s and then snuggled in as a family to watch the new Hallmark movie with some homemade caramel corn! (The guys were thrilled, let me tell you!)

Today we woke up and had breakfast and then it was time to say goodbye to my family. I was really sad they had to go, but it makes it easier knowing I’m going to see them on Friday for sleighbell weekend!!

Trev and I spent the first day of December in our Christmas pjs, enjoying our morning! We also took Christmas card photos, did our errands and did our meal prep! (Which was SO easy because we used our leftover turkey to make Turkey soup on Friday!)

And now we’re snuggled up by our Christmas tree, watching a Christmas movie while wait for dinner to finish cooking! We’re both pretty bummed our weekend is already over and we have to head back to work tomorrow.

I’m extra bummed because Trev leaves for a work trip again in a few days 😦 I’m going to soak up every last second of time with him while I can!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow my loves!

Xx.
