Life Lately

FRIENDS! It has been absolute AGES since we last talked, and I’m so sad about that! Last week was one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in awhile. Not only was work crazy, but we have finally started to see the light at the end of our main floor renovation tunnel, so home life has been crazy too!

I figured I’d take today to catch you up with what’s been going on this past week! So, let’s go alllllll the way back to last weekend, and start from there!

I got home from work late on Friday, and we spent the evening attempting to unpack a little bit more in our basement! We ordered a new couch, so we had to clear our some space to get the old one downstairs! It was quite the task, but we were super proud of how much we got done after a long week!

Nope…. metro Detroit didn’t get hit by a tornado. Would you believe that this looked a hundred times better than it had before?! #packrats

We also hung some new art in our bathroom, and new pictures on our wall! (We LOVE how they turned out, and I can’t wait to share with you in our next house update!)

Saturday we were up early to head down to Blissfield to babysit our niece and nephew! We had so much fun playing with them for the day.

Sunday we woke up early and headed home to try to get some things done in our house. We had sat down earlier in the week and made a list of everything that needed to get done before we could call our main floor complete. (Minus decor!) We had HIGH hopes of getting a lot of it done before this weekend, when my parents were coming down to “help with the finishing touches.”

Before we knew it, it was time for bed and for the work week to begin. We both worked really long days all week, and were too exhausted when we got home to do anything but eat and go to sleep.

We ended up getting nothing done before Thursday when my parents arrived. We were SO happy to see them! Especially because they brought our Jacksy Cat back! (He’s been on “vacay” at their house for the past few weeks and we’ve missed him so much!!!)

Friday, Trev and I both went to work, and my parents worked on a few of the projects we had hoped to get done at our house. They ended up finished our built in’s and they look SO GOOD! Friday evening, we headed to dinner at Granite City and made a stop by our second home, The Home Depot.

Saturday, we went out for breakfast, and then my mom and I worked on making over the fireplace while my dad finished up a few of the smaller projects we needed some help on. We loveeeee how our fireplace makeover turned out and can’t believe how easy and affordable it actually was! Ready to see it?!

Sunday, we slept in and went to see Trev’s girls soccer game. We spent our evening relaxing a bit, and then moving the couch downstairs because our new couch is set to arrive later this week! (I literally can’t wait!!)

I finished my weekend by getting stung in the face by a bee (super fun to have a giant welt on your cheek, let me tell you) and prepping for the week ahead.

Today, I’m moping around because my family left and because I wish the weekend was a little bit longer. Luckily… only a few more days until I get to see this face again!

No new post tomorrow (it’s meeting night for me at work) but I’ll be back for #WhatUpWednesday! Except to hear about how all I’m listening to is Taylor Swift, and how I’m really looking forward to next weekend 😉
