Hey love bugs! Long time, no talk. Am I right? It feels like ages since I’ve had the chance to blog even though it’s only been a few days. I hope this Sunday finds you sitting on a couch somewhere, still in a turkey coma, and just really, really, really, really happy.
I’m writing to you from the front seat of my car. It’s packed to the brim with Black Friday packages and Thanksgiving leftovers. And us? We’re sad. Leaving home is always the worst after you’ve had an absolute perfect mini vacation. But, we’re leaving Manistee with full bellies, and even fuller hearts.
Our weekend started last Wednesday when I got out of work. I unfortunately had to close the center, so we got off on a very late start. Trev is the best hubby ever though, and drove the entire way so that I could rest. Luckily, even with our super late start, we somehow missed out on most of the Thanksgiving traffic and made it Up North in less time than normal. How crazy is that?! We pulled into my parents driveway just after 10. We visited and then snuggled in for bed.

Thursday morning we slept in and woke up to the smell of stuffing in the oven and turkey on the grill! Yay for Thanksgiving!!! My entire family lives in Manistee, so holiday celebrations are always a bit of a marathon. But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way! This year, our Thanksgiving visits were a bit more spread out than last year, so we were able to lounge around sipping on coffee and watching the parade before our lunch was done!
The turkey came out of the grill at 11:30, just in time for lunch! After our delicious dinner we napped and watched the Lions before heading to visit my Grandparents before heading to my other’ Grandma’s for Thanksgiving Dinner #2. This year, we decided that since we were having a big Thanksgiving Dinner with the extended family on Saturday, we’d all make pizzas. And they were delicious! Our day was filled with family, laughs, turkey and football.
On Friday, we did a little Black Friday shopping in the BEST way possible. I’m really not into pushing people over at the Walmart. We went out to breakfast at M22 Grill, in Onekama and shopped the Amazon Prime deals on our phones. (This is the second year in a row we’ve done this, and it’s the best Black Friday tradition!) Talk about the most RELAXING Black Friday EVER! After breakfast, we chose to #ShopLocal. I find that the small stores of Northern Michigan are the absolute best places to find gifts for everyone on your list. These shops sell everything from Michigan Made products to fine artisan goods, brand name clothing to home décor and everything in between. And, these shops almost always have a better Black Friday deal than any Big Box store or Mall. This year, we shopped at Anchored Designs and MacBeth & Co and guys. We hit the freakin’ jackpot! We still had to buy gifts for almost everyone on our list. And we found amazing, high quality gifts for almost every single person at these shops!
After shopping in Onekama we headed back to downtown Manistee to shop a little more, then grab lunch at North Channel Brewing. We hadn’t been there since last Thanksgiving weekend, and were pleasantly surprised! Our first experience hand’t been great. But we knew it was because it had just opened and had a lot of kinks that needed to be worked out. This time, our food was fantastic, our beer was delicious and we really enjoyed our dine in experience!

Friday afternoon we shot our Christmas Card! Guys. It’s soooo good this year! I can’t wait to share it with you. I really wish I could share a sneak peak with you, but it would 1,000% give it away!
Friday night we headed to TJs Pub for dinner. (We can’t let our time in town pass without a stop at our favorite spot!)

We ended Friday night helping my parents decorate their Christmas tree!

Saturday we woke up to our Amazon packages starting to arrive and another Thanksgiving dinner upon us. We headed back to my Grandma’s to have Thanksgiving with our massive, extended family!

Saturday night, we tried the new Mexican restaurant in town (which was fantastic!) and watched movies. It was a perfect, cozy night in.
And today we packed up our car and had some Big Al’s before heading home. So far, the traffic isn’t too terrible and we’re making great time! Let’s hope it stays this way the closer we get to Detroit. We are so sad to be leaving, but knowing that we get to head back up north in less than two weeks makes it a little bit easier.
I hope everyone had an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving! I hope you know, that in this season of Thanksgiving, I’m so dang thankful for each and every one of you.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday loves! I’ll be back tomorrow with a collab you won’t want to miss! I’ll talk to you then!
Xx.

This is so cute!! I went up to northern Michigan too in Gaylord for thanksgiving. Glad you had some time to relax in between dinners. Also I love your outfit in the first photo. Is that sweater from LL Bean?

Thank you!! I hope you enjoyed your time Up North! And it is from LL Bean 🙂 I’ve worn it almost every day since I got it in the fall. It’s so warm and cozy… I want it in a billion colors!
