Clyde’s Drive-In

You guys. It SERIOUSLY feels like fall outside in Northern Michigan today! If I didn’t know any better, I’d think it was my birthday weekend. Every year when my birthday rolls around, we end up with sunny warm days and cool crisp mornings and evenings. It’s my favorite kind of weather, and I can’t wait to get out and enjoy it today! It’s my last day home for awhile, so my dad and I are heading out to do some rock hunting, we’re going to dinner at one of my favorite places, and my mom and I will be tuning in to The Bachelorette’s MOST DRAMATIC FINALE EVER.

I’ve got some fun posts coming at you this week, and I can’t wait to share them with you! So if you aren’t subscribed, be sure to do it right now! Wednesday’s post is going to be SO GOOD. I’ve teamed up with one of my favorite online shops, Shutterfly, to share something really really REALLY awesome with all of you. You won’t want to miss it!

Okay… moving on!

The last few Mitten Mondays, I’ve been sharing some guides to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. If you’re new here, you might not know that I was there at the beginning of June for my cousin’s high school graduation. We took some extra time before heading to Marquette to chase waterfalls, hike, visit Kitch-iti-kipi and explore the Pictured Rocks. And while I spent all this time telling you about my favorite things I did, I seriously neglected talking about my favorite place I ate.

Enter… Clyde’s Drive-In.

Step back into the world of poodle skirts and soda fountains, and get ready to eat THE BEST burger in Michigan. (Okay… if not the entire state, the Upper Peninsula for sure!)

Clyde’s has been serving up patties since 1949. With big burgers, and deliciously greasy sides, it’s easy to see why locals and tourists keep coming back for more. And with it’s multiple locations, wherever you are in the Upper Peninsula, you’re never TOO far away from a Big C Burger and Onion Rings.

You’ll find Clyde’s just across the bridge in St. Ignace, The Soo and Manistique. Each one is a little bit different, but they all serve delicious old fashioned hamburgers just how you like them.

We visited the Manistique location on Chippewa Highway, on our way to Kitch-iti-kipi. I was STARVING by the time we got there. We hadn’t eaten since breakfast knowing that we were only a few hours from Clyde’s. We of course, in true Edmondson fashion, made a few wrong turns before finally seeing the best thing we’d seen since the Mackinac Bridge.. The Clyde’s Sign!

Now, they will totally come out to your car and take your order for you, if you’d like! However, we went inside. I really wanted to sit at the little burger counter they have so I could watch while they made our food. So we parked and headed towards the door.

I love that they have a giant menu on the front of their building! My parents had been to the St. Ignace location just two weeks before, so they already knew what they wanted. I checked out the menu, and as tempted as I was to get their famous Big C Burger, I just knew I wouldn’t eat it all! I decided on a cheeseburger and onion rings.

We arrived just before noon, and ordered our food. Thank goodness we arrived when we did! The place was packed by 12:05 with locals ordering their usuals, and tourists staring blankly at the menu trying to decide what to order.

A few minutes after we ordered, the lady behind the counter handed me two of the heaviest “fast food” bags I’ve ever held. I’m not joking. These bad boys felt like little weights!

You guys. My burger was MASSIVE. And I didn’t even get The Big C! (My dad did, and his was literally gigantic.) And it was so.dang.good. Seriously. I sometimes don’t care for really thick burgers. They taste almost too “meaty” if that makes sense. But I can honestly tell you, Clyde’s has one of the best burger’s I’ve eaten!

Sorry for the less than perfect picture! We ate in the car on our way to Kitch-iti-kipi and I kind of forgot to take a picture before I’d devoured half of it!

So the moral of this short little post?! If you’re crossing the Mighty Mac, find a Clyde’s to stop by for lunch or dinner. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!

Have a wonderful Monday my friends! I’ll be back at some point tomorrow. Just not sure when the post will go live, as I’m traveling back to Westland.

Xx.
