Rainy Day Essentials

Rain, rain go away… no wait. Don’t go rain! How many of you love the rain as much as I do? One of my absolute favorite things in the whole world is beach rides to watch thunderstorms roll in over Lake Michigan with my Dad. He’s taken me to see them ever since I was small, and I’m seriously wishing I was home today to see these bad boys coming in over the lake.

But unfortunately, I’m not. So I’ll just have to settle for the sound of thunder and rain from the outside my window. It’s days like to today that I wish I didn’t have to leave my house. You know… when it’s dark and dreary and all you want to do is lay inside with your cat under a snuggly blanket and watch Netflix? That’s how I’m feeling today. But, like most adults, that just wasn’t an option. So I threw on my rainy day best and braved the elements.

Rain Gear is one of my absolute favorite things to purchase. Because let’s be real… Hunter boots make any outfit look adorable. Today, I’ve rounded up my favorite rainy day essentials to carry you through until these late March and April showers bring us pretty May flowers. (And what do Mayflowers bring?! Pilgrims! HAHA Don’t worry. I’m here all night.)

Hunter Boots. The number one most essential piece of rain gear is some good boots that will keep your feet warm and dry. These Hunters will do just the trick. It’s no secret that these beauties are a bit of an investment (especially when you can buy rain boots for $10 at Walmart) but the quality of these are amazing. And they will last you a very very very long time. I own these ones but I REALLY want these ones too!  And PS! While I like most things in my life matte (my face, my lipstick, you know…) I really believe that High Gloss = High Style when it comes to Hunter Boots 🙂 PPS: Sizing on Hunters is kind of strange. I would consider sizing down about half a size.

Bean “Boots”. Okay guys. These may not be the most attractive shoes in the world. But every since I saw Joanna Gaines wearing them on an episode of Fixer Upper I have been wanting them. Why? Because Bean Boots are the real deal. And if I can get one that I can wear during the warmer weather because it’s not technically a boot? I’m so in. You feet will stay dry whether you’re running into work, out walking your pup in a storm, or trekking through Acadia in Maine. Get yours here!

Adidas Jacket. This Adidas rain jacket is EVERYTHING people. If you’re not too worried about style, or looking for something while you’re out for a run/hike/walk/bike this is the jacket for you. I’m not kidding you… the water literally beads up and rolls right off of it. I wore mine in to work this morning, and walked inside while it was legit pouring. The jacket wasn’t even wet when I walked inside. It’s amazing! However, it’s super thin. So while it won’t keep you snuggly warm… it will keep you very very very dry! Get one of your own here.

Barbour Pegmatite Waterproof Hooded Raincoat. If you ask me, rain coats should be yellow. I don’t know why I think that, but I do. If I could have any raincoat in the world… it’d be this beauty! But unfortunately, I have to pay bills. So you should buy it and tell me how amazing it is 🙂 Find it at Nordstrom

Umbrella. You can’t go out on a rainy day without an umbrella! I’m a firm believer it a bright, colorful, cheery umbrella to help bring a little sunshine to the grey day. I ALWAYS buy my umbrellas from Target. They’re cute, they’re cheap, and then I’m not too sad when I break them. (Because it happens all the time.) I love this one and this one.

Handbag Protector. Okay… this one is a little strange I know. But if you own an expensive handbag I’m sure you’ll think it’s worth it too. Anytime I have to expose one of my designer bags to the rain, I die a little inside. The Handbag Raincoat is easy to grab and slip over your bag last minute. While it might look a little silly, it will protect your bag from harsh elements, and help it to last a whole lot longer. Grab yours here.

What do you wear on a rainy day?

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I’m SO excited because my parents are coming down to visit us. I can’t wait to see them!

I’ll be back Sunday with a Weekend Round Up!

Happy Weekend Loves!
