But seriously. How pretty are those leaves? I love love love fall! And one of my FAVORITE things about fall is Thanksgiving. I love spending the day with those that I’m most thankful for and eating so much I can barely button my pants.
And today, I’m extra excited to be writing this blog post. Not only do I get to talk about my favorite thing to eat on Thanksgiving, I also get to talk about my Grandpa 🙂
That’s right! Today I’m sharing my sweet Grandpa’s super top secret stuffing recipe!!!!!! Trust me. It is so dang delicious, you’re going to want to print this and save it for later.
I’m going to start out by telling you I HATE stuffing. Like wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole because I know exactly what it’s made of. (Here’s to lookin’ at you, giblets.) Like sorry, but I’m not eating that. But my Grandpa’s stuffing is the exception. He puts nothing gross in it, AND it tastes so good it’s basically the only thing I eat at his house on Thanksgiving. (Besides the rolls and cranberry sauce of course!) Speaking of my Grandpa…

Meet my Grandpa Hughie! The chef behind this Masterpiece 🙂 (Okay. Technically, it’s his mom’s recipe, but it lives on with him!)
Shopping List
1 pound of mild Pork Sausage
2 cups of hot water
1 16 oz bag of Herb Seasoned Pepperidge Farm Stuffing Mix (It’s the blue bag!)
2 onions diced
2 stalks of celery finely diced
1 cup of potatoes (These can be either mashed, cold, cooked or raw! If you’re using a whole potato it’s about 3-4 small potatoes. My Gramps says to “eyeball it”)
1 cup of turkey gravy
Grab a large pot (again, I’m going to refer you back to this one because it’s my all time favorite!) and brown your sausage. Then, add in your celery. Once browned, add 2 cups of HOT water and a bag of stuffing mix. Mix thoroughly, then add the potatoes. (I’m not sure which one my Grandpa uses, but when we make it at our house, my dad boils the potatoes the night before, lets them cool, cuts them up, then adds them in to the stuffing the next day.) Once all combined, grab your meat grinder and run it through.
Put into a baking dish and mix in about one cup of turkey gravy.
Finally, bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
And THAT IS IT. Nope not kidding. It’s literally that simple, and it is the best stuffing you will ever have.

I remember the very first time Trevor came home with me for Thanksgiving. I told him how my Grandpa made the best stuffing and he just kind of rolled his eyes at me. Now, every year, he’s the first one to volunteer to bring the leftovers home with us. HAHA
So if you’re looking for a dish to pass for your Thanksgiving dinner this year, might I suggest my Grandpa’s Stuffing? If you try it, let me know what you think!!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I’m heading up North to see my family and Jacksy Cat (they’re still cat sitting while we move next week) and Trev is off to a bachelor party. Talk to you on Sunday!
Xx.
