Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth Loves!

Barbecues, beaches and brews. Theres so many reasons to love the Fourth of July! Personally, I don’t think there is any place better in the world to celebrate one of my favorite holidays than Northern Michigan. Small towns all along the Lake Michigan coastline host little festivals that are quintessential to their charm.

If you ask me, small towns do Fourth of July right. From carnivals and petting zoos, to craft shows and flea markets, these (sometimes cheesy) festivals are what I look forward to every year. The fireworks shows may not be as big as in the city, and the Independence Day Parades may not be as grand. But there is something special about celebrating America’s birthday where everyone knows everyone, and you don’t have to fight for a good spot to watch the fireworks.

For me the small town I love most is the place I call home, Manistee. Growing up, I couldn’t wait to move away. But now that I’m older, I look forward to coming home every chance I get. While I love being in Manistee for just about every holiday, Fourth of July is one of my favorites. Spending entire days on the beach, wandering around the festival and nights cuddled around a bonfire with those I love most just make my heart so dang happy.

I spent my long weekend playing on the beach with my hubby, grilling with my family and making hobo pies, feeding animals, shopping at flea markets, walking in parades, watching fireworks and catching a sunset or two.

I hope you all had an amazing holiday filled with family, friends and lots of Red, White, and Blue!

Xx.
